In my Nutritional Therapy practice I follow the philosophy of functional medicine to unearth biological and nutritional imbalances. Layers of questions seek to forage the root of each condition or symptom in order to address their underlying cause.

I’m often asked if the food we eat can really affect how we feel. Can it help anxiety? Could it disturb my sleep?  How can it drive my pain? When we consider food in its smallest form, it is, after all, a set of chemicals. Creating the right balance, therefore, can enormously affect how we feel both physically and emotionally.

 

About me

A wise woman once said “I hope you know the questions.” Rather baffling for a 10 year old but a sentiment that must have sparked a relentless (irritating) habit to rarely accept the face value.

Where relevant I use functional laboratory tests to build a personal map. From hormone production, gut analyses, thyroid panel, nutrient status, adrenal function to a metabolic profile… I have long and full sleeves.

I’m also a realist and firm believer that strength comes from simplicity. If you don’t enjoy cooking, I won’t ask you to prepare nightly banquets and if you work 14 hours a day, I shan’t suggest adding 3 hours of yoga a day – although I’ll probably be itching to!

As well as a full diet and lifestyle analysis, Forage uses functional tests to assess imbalances within the body before creating an achievable and sustainable plan. Two follow up meetings allow us to tweak the programme to flex around your lifestyle – busy work periods, holidays, improving symptoms.

If you have a more complicated health condition, it may be beneficial to work together over a longer period of time. It’s likely that we’ll use functional tests to find any imbalances and then build a sustainable programme with monthly meetings to adjust the plan as required. Forage uses creative yet evidence based nutrition and lifestyle advice to encourage the bodies own healing powers.
